Solstice

"God rest ye merry Gentlemen let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day
To save us all from Satan's pow'r when we were gone astray"

Or maybe is was just to save us from Solstice.

Solstice is unequivocally hailed as the most nefarious member of iA. A fact that makes her perfectly suited as the Dean of Students. She was the daughter of a short-lived rockstar who fathered many children during his 15-minutes-of-fame. Solstice and her sister Lithium were born of different mothers on the same day. Their father called them twins. Solstice thought this an insult given they obviously weren’t.

Of the 7 sisters, Solstice and Lithium were raised together due to their close proximity in age. Their father’s girlfriend at the time took them in as her own. Their biological mothers were mostly groupies or something similar and had no interest in them after their father’s second album flopped. Lithium showed promise as a future musician. She demonstrated a proclivity for learning any musical instrument she handled; her favorite being the guitar.

Solstice began to loathe her sister. Lithium’s talent and beauty awarded her favorable attention from friends and family, especially their father. By this time, their father was seldom seen. When he wasn’t touring the country playing his long-forgotten hits for heavily intoxicated crowds, he was drinking himself. Or taking whatever pills he could find.

In 1969, at the age of 23, Lithium found herself providing live entertainment at a local bar. One night, a record label executive heard her music and offered her a chance to play for the other executives in New York. It was the break she needed. And one Solstice couldn’t live with.

Upon hearing the news, solstice decided her sister shouldn’t live with it either. She murdered her sister two days before her flight to New York. Authorities say when they located the body, all of her fingers had been removed. Solstice was later quoted saying she didn’t want her sister to be able to play anything anymore, even in the afterlife.

This first act only incited her bloodlust. Solstice proceeded to track down her remaining 5 sisters and murder them as well. She was eventually arrested and placed in a mental institution. Her father, distraught over the collapse of his family, was later found dead of an overdose in Nashville, TN, 1972. Oddly, Solstice was found lying next to him. Cause of death, unknown.

As Solstice was being prepared for transport, St. Dismas offered her another form. Given the Trinity Covenant, St. Dismas felt souls like Solstice were more aligned with her new ambitions. Some traits, however, carry over. Solstice was recruited to iA where she was a member of the first class along with PAZ and Persehponie. She developed a unaturally strong attachment to Persephonie. A lust, a desire, that found her counting the seconds when Persephonie was away. When Persephonie would awaken, Solstice would be at her bedside, staring at her. When Persephonie left the room, Solstice would kiss the place where she sat before following her. It was an obsession.

It grew to the point that Solstice felt all other students were a distraction. She believed if she could eliminate them, she could have Persephonie’s undivided attention. She plotted to create a trap in which the souls of the dolls would be extracted from them and ushered back into sub-limbo. Ophelia eventually discovered her plan and reversed the trap on Solstice; ostensibly killing her.

Several months passed and without Solstice, the school flourished. With her presence gone, Lithium became a student at the school and quickly rose to the rank of top Siren. Some traits carry over to other forms. After Persephonie became the Head Teacher, however, she inexplicably petitioned to have Solstice return. Despite the objection of the other staff, Persephoine saw to the return of Solstice. Why? Did the Head Teacher miss the attention Solstice gave her? Were the feelings reciprocated?

Since her return, Solstice has apologized for her previous transgressions. She has vowed to be a productive member of the academy. As a safety precaution, PAZ developed a plan to have Solstice wear crosses at all times to attenuate her nefarious energy. Solstice agreed. Crosses serve as mediums to dispel or attenuate a certain quantity of nefarious energy per unit squared. One cross is normally enough to dispel the nefarious energy in an entire building.

Solstice wears 23.
